Open Position

We are always looking for motivated, talented and self-driven people with experience and/or interest in brain development, imaging methods, mouse modeling and neuronal network research to join our group. You will be part of a young, dynamic team within the stimulating and international environment of DKFZ in Heidelberg.

There are currently the following open positions in our group:

Rotation/Diploma/Master student positions

We are interested in candidates with a strong background or interest in cellular and molecular techniques, image processing or data analysis.

Interested candidates should apply by sending their CV, a list of references, a list of known techniques and a short cover letter to Annarita Patrizi,, +41 6221 42 1559.

Postdoc positions
  1. Choroid plexus! A new source of critical factors for cortical brain development.

To unravel the intrinsic and extrinsic factors essential for development and refinement of cortical brain circuit we are aiming to employ transcriptomic, proteomic and molecular techniques to identify and study unbiased choroid plexus - cerebrospinal fluid instructive signals during cortical development and plasticity.

The ideal candidate should have experience in at least one of the following areas:

    • Cellular and developmental neuroscience
    • Single cell sequencing techniques
    • Proteomics and Bioinformatics
    • Cell and Organoid cultures
  2. 3-D reconstruction of inhibitory synaptic connectome.

To unravel how cortical GABAergic networks develop, age and accommodate new sensory information we are aiming at using state-of-the-art imaging techniques and single cell viral techniques to map and reconstruct developing inhibitory connectome.

The ideal candidate should have experience in at least one of the following areas:

    • Imaging and cellular tracing techniques
    • developmental neurobiology

Interested candidates are expected to have a published record of achievements that would enable them to apply for postdoctoral fellowships. Apply by sending your CV, a list of references and a short outline of your research interests to Annarita Patrizi,, +41 6221 42 1559
